How Taiwo can help

Most people call about a back, neck, shoulder or knee that has been sore for weeks or months and is not settling on its own. Almost all of it is treatable, and you do not need a GP referral to start.

Common reasons people get in touch

  • Back or neck pain, including sciatica and stiffness that keeps coming back
  • Shoulder, hip, knee or ankle pain that is not improving on its own
  • Arthritis and joint stiffness, and keeping moving comfortably with it
  • Recovering from surgery — a joint replacement, a fracture or a repair
  • Getting strength and confidence back after illness, a fall or a spell of inactivity

Not sure whether it is the right fit? That is exactly what the free phone call is for.

What happens when you get in touch

  1. A free phone call. You explain what is going on, and you get an honest answer about whether physiotherapy will help — including if the answer is that you should see your GP first.
  2. A first assessment in your own home (60 minutes). A proper look at how you are moving, what hurts and what you want to get back to — on your own stairs and in your own space, which tells us far more than a clinic room does.
  3. A plan you can actually follow. Hands-on treatment where it helps, plus a small number of specific exercises explained clearly, with follow-up appointments as often or as rarely as you need them.

About Taiwo Funsho Idowu

Taiwo is a chartered physiotherapist (MCSP) and HCPC registered practitioner providing private home-visit physiotherapy across Merseyside — Liverpool, Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bootle, St Helens, Southport, Huyton, Prescot and the towns in between. Appointments happen in your own home, so there is no clinic to travel to and no waiting list.

With 15 years of experience, her main area is musculoskeletal work: the everyday back, neck, shoulder, hip and knee problems, joint pain, and recovery after surgery. Taiwo qualified with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physiotherapy from Obafemi Awolowo University, and completed postgraduate certification in soft tissue and joint injection in 2025.

Taiwo assesses and diagnoses directly, so there is no waiting for a GP referral before treatment can start. In practice that means a faster answer about what is actually wrong, and an approach built around early intervention, clear explanation and the right exercises rather than reaching for medication.

Alongside the musculoskeletal caseload, she has years of experience delivering physiotherapy in people's own homes, covering elderly care, falls prevention and recovery after orthopaedic surgery. Earlier hospital experience at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital covered a high-volume outpatient musculoskeletal caseload, delivering evidence-based treatment and self-management advice.

She works autonomously, manages a caseload independently and keeps full compliance with safeguarding, infection prevention, data security and basic life support training. Taiwo is based in Liverpool and drives, covering Merseyside for home visits.

Back, neck and joint pain

This is the bulk of the work: back and neck pain including sciatica, and shoulder, hip, knee and ankle problems, whether they came on suddenly or have been building for months. The starting point is always the same — a full assessment to work out what is actually driving the pain, then treatment aimed at that rather than just the symptom.

Treatment combines hands-on work with a specific, progressive exercise plan, so improvement continues between appointments rather than depending on the visits themselves.

Arthritis and long-standing joint pain

Arthritis and polymyalgia are not things you simply have to put up with. Gentle, well-paced exercise is one of the most effective ways of managing joint pain and stiffness, and of keeping the movement you have.

The aim is to find the level of activity that helps without provoking a flare-up, then build from there. Taiwo will also advise on pacing, on managing the days when it is worse, and on any equipment or adaptations that make daily tasks easier.

Recovery after surgery and elderly rehabilitation

Rehabilitation after a joint replacement, a fracture or a soft-tissue repair, carried out at home. Getting out of your own chair, managing your own stairs and walking your own hallway are the goals that actually matter, and they are far easier to work on in the place where you do them every day.

She also works with older adults on strength, balance and falls prevention, building confidence to move safely around the home and outdoors.
