About Louis McKenna

Louis McKenna is a mobile physiotherapist who visits people in their own homes across Warwickshire. Much of his work involves helping people regain strength, mobility and confidence following a stroke, operation, fall or stay in hospital. Because the treatment comes to you, there is no clinic to travel to and no waiting room.

Louis runs an independent practice, A&M Physiotherapy, alongside fellow physiotherapist Tom Arnold. Between them, they have experience across NHS and private hospital settings, including orthopaedics, intensive care, neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal outpatients. Depending on your needs, either Louis or Tom may visit you.

A&M Physiotherapy can also offer something a little unusual: appointments with two physiotherapists where additional support is needed. This can be particularly helpful for someone who needs more assistance to move safely, has lost confidence with standing or walking, or has recently returned home from hospital and is not yet steady on their feet. If you think this may be useful, it is worth discussing during the initial free phone call.

Neurological rehabilitation is a large part of what Louis does. He works with people recovering from a stroke after their hospital rehabilitation has finished, as well as those living with longer-term neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. Treatment is tailored to the individual, with a focus on maintaining or improving walking, balance, strength and independence, and adapting the programme as needs change.

Louis also helps people who have become weaker or less mobile following illness, a hospital stay or a prolonged period of inactivity.

This loss of strength and fitness, known as deconditioning, can have a significant effect on everyday life, but physiotherapy can help people gradually rebuild their strength, mobility and confidence.

Home visits are not limited to private homes. A&M Physiotherapy also visits people in care homes, residential homes and assisted living settings, including those working towards becoming mobile enough to return home.

Tom co-founded A&M Physiotherapy with Louis. His NHS and private hospital experience covers musculoskeletal outpatients, intensive care and high-dependency respiratory care, and trauma and orthopaedics. His approach is hands-on, progressive and built around the goals you set. He holds a first-class honours degree in physiotherapy and a BSc in Biomedical Science.
