About Sam Baxter
Sam comes to you. He is a physiotherapist on Lizzie's team who visits people at home across West Manchester and Trafford: Wigan, Leigh, Bolton, Salford, Eccles, Swinton, Stretford, Sale, Altrincham and the places in between. There is no clinic to get to and no waiting room.
Home visits are what Sam does every day. For five years he has worked as an NHS physiotherapist seeing people in their own homes, often in the first days and weeks after they come out of hospital. He knows how hard it can be to get going again after a fall, an operation or a spell of illness, and how much it matters to feel safe in your own home.
He will watch how you move around your home, talk with you about what you want to be able to do again, and agree some clear goals with you. That might be walking to the shops, managing the stairs, or getting in and out of a chair or bed more easily. You will get a simple exercise plan to follow between visits, set at the right level for you.
He often helps people recovering from a hip or knee replacement or other surgery, people who have had a fall or worry about falling, people living with the effects of a stroke, and people with several health conditions at once. He also has experience supporting people who need extra help with moving because of their weight.
Before he trained as a physiotherapist, Sam spent years as a personal trainer and senior health and fitness instructor, including exercise referral work. So he is good at making exercise feel manageable, and at helping you keep it up.
Whatever brings you to him, the first step is a free phone call with Lizzie to talk it through.
