Acupuncture Physiotherapy in Lancashire

Local Physiotherapist — Jill Wilson, Lancashire
Acupuncture can be a useful part of physiotherapy treatment for some types of pain and musculoskeletal problems. As an AACP-accredited acupuncturist, Jill can include it within a wider, evidence-based home treatment plan where appropriate.
What is physiotherapy-led acupuncture?
Acupuncture used within physiotherapy — sometimes called Western or medical acupuncture — involves inserting fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points to help manage pain and muscle tension. It is used as one part of a treatment plan, alongside exercise, manual therapy and advice, rather than as a stand-alone fix.
What can it help with?
Acupuncture may be considered as part of treatment for certain musculoskeletal problems, including:
- Persistent neck and back pain
- Muscle tension and trigger points
- Some types of joint pain
- Pain that is limiting your ability to exercise and progress your rehabilitation
Jill will always assess your individual situation first and explain whether acupuncture is likely to be helpful for you.
Is it safe?
When carried out by a trained, accredited practitioner, acupuncture has a strong safety record. Jill is accredited by the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and uses sterile, single-use needles. She will discuss any considerations and answer your questions before treatment, and it is always your choice whether to include it.
Part of a complete plan
Acupuncture works best as part of an active rehabilitation programme. The lasting improvements usually come from the exercise, strengthening and advice that sit alongside it — acupuncture can help reduce pain enough to let you engage with that programme.
Home physiotherapy across Lancashire
Jill provides home physiotherapy, including acupuncture where appropriate, across Lancashire including Blackpool, Preston, Lancaster and the wider county.
