Fracture / Broken Bones Exercise Advice & Rehabilitation (18+)
Home visits by a qualified physiotherapist
Note: This service is for adults aged 18 and over only.

What we do
We provide specialist rehabilitation after fractures (broken bones) for adults. Our programmes help you regain movement, strength, and confidence after your bone has healed.
Recovering from a fracture takes time. Even after the bone has healed, you may have stiffness, weakness, or reduced confidence. We guide you through safe, progressive exercises to get you back to normal activities.
Who it helps
- Adults recovering from fractures in arms, legs, wrists, ankles, or other bones
- People with stiffness or weakness after being in a cast or immobilised
- Those who have been discharged from hospital and need ongoing rehabilitation
- Anyone struggling to regain function after a fracture
What to expect
We'll assess your current range of motion, strength, and function. We'll check your fracture is healing appropriately (we'll ask about your medical follow-up) and create a programme that respects healing timelines.
Your programme will include:
- Range of motion exercises: Gentle movements to reduce stiffness
- Progressive strengthening: Rebuilding muscle that has weakened during immobilisation
- Functional practice: Getting back to daily activities safely
- Weight-bearing progression: Gradually increasing load on the healed bone (if appropriate)
- Confidence building: Overcoming fear of re-injury
Common fractures we help with
- Wrist fractures (Colles', scaphoid)
- Ankle fractures
- Hip fractures (following surgical fixation)
- Shoulder and upper arm fractures
- Leg fractures (tibia, fibula)
- Vertebral compression fractures

Frequently asked questions
When can I start physiotherapy after a fracture?
This depends on the type of fracture and how it's been treated. Generally, we can start gentle exercises once your doctor confirms the bone is healing. We'll work within any precautions given by your medical team.
Do I need a referral?
No, but please bring any hospital letters or X-ray reports. We need to know your fracture type and any specific precautions.
Why is this service 18+ only?
Children's bones heal differently and require specialist paediatric physiotherapy. We focus on adult rehabilitation to ensure we provide the most appropriate care.
